Sculptra originated in Switzerland and was invented there back in 1999. In the USA, Sculptra was first approved by the responsible health authority in 2004. The trend spilled back over the ocean from there and has long since arrived in Berlin. The procedure, also called Liquid Lifting, is gentle and creates more volume in the face. Age-related problems such as the loss of elasticity, sagging of the connective tissue or the formation of wrinkles are perfectly remedied with this method. Sculptra is, strictly speaking, a type of filler, but it differs significantly from hyaluron and the like. The difference lies in the fact that Sculptra works with poly-L lactic acid and thus a biostimulator. The missing collagen is thus produced directly by the patient’s own body – and this naturalness is unmistakable.
Long-term effect is the special feature here and is reflected in the fact that no follow-up treatment is required for up to two years. However, since the effect is produced by the patient’s own body, the results only become apparent after around six to eight weeks, which is why a little patience and possibly pre-planning is required. Prior to this, there may be slight swelling, but this will heal quickly.
The actual treatment is performed by injecting poly-Lactic acid into the previously discussed areas. These are, of course, thoroughly cleaned and, if desired, local anesthesia with appropriate creams is also possible. In some cases, Sculptra is also gently massaged in after the injection.

Those who undergo treatment with Sculptra need not fear any side effects. Due to the injection, there may be minor redness or itching, but this passes quickly. Also temporary are the small nodules that rarely appear under the skin. If you would like to prevent this, cool the treated area immediately after treatment and avoid sporting activities or too much sun for the first 24 hours. Likewise, a light massage for five minutes at a time and five times a day for the first five days can be an advantage.
