Specialized threads are placed under the skin during a thread lift. This treatment is a minimally invasive therapy that does not involve the use of a scalpel. Aim: To create a firmer and smoother appearance, the threads are used to slightly lift the corresponding areas that have sagged due to the natural ageing process. The aim of thread lifting is also to stimulate the production of collagen and thus trigger regeneration processes in the skin. Patients should benefit from this for a period of around two years.
A thread lift is usually performed by a dermatologist, naturopath or beautician on an outpatient basis or under local anaesthetic. Two threads are usually used, each requiring two stitches. The thread enters on one side and exits on the other. The operation is completed after an average of around 40 minutes. In the past, special gold threads were used. In the meantime, these have been replaced by a material that dissolves itself and that the body can break down completely over time.
