A study by the New York University School of Medicine is particularly significant, according to which sebum production was reduced by 75 percent after one week, and even by 80 percent after one month, and 24 out of 25 patients were “satisfied” or “very satisfied” with the treatment.
The effect of Botox against acne sets in after about 24 hours and lasts for up to four months. As soon as the effect wears off, injections can be given again. It is important that the Botox is diluted with a saline solution so that the facial expressions are not paralysed.
Scars caused by acne can also be tightened and sometimes even removed with Botox. The substance is injected next to the affected areas so that the resulting tightening can lead to the disappearance of the scar tissue. Ideally, a filler is also used to achieve completely smooth skin.
Botox against acne is applied by means of punctual injections on precisely defined areas of the skin. Of course, a precise examination is always carried out beforehand and minor haematomas may occur in rare cases after the treatment.
